If you haven’t seen the @lifeinCalgary Instagram account before, you should start following along now! Each week, a different person or company will takeover the IG account to share their views and experiences of Calgary through photos. Eating greens doesn‚Äôt have to be bland and boring. Summertime salads can be the tastiest love affair and as zesty and fresh as the blazing sun. You just gotta mix up those lettuces with the right blend of add-ons and dressing to make one delicious salad. You‚Äôve probably been to local dining faves Divino and Cilantro, but did you know that the team behind these classic restaurants also has its own grocery brand to take home too? Canadian Rocky Mountain Resorts is also the home of CRMR Kitchen, a line of natural and locally View this Post

In honour of Canada’s 150th birthday this year, many places are celebrating our Canadian heritage with some fun and celebratory programs and events. The Calgary Zoo is no exception with their poll for Canada’s Greatest Animal.  It was an online voting battle between beasts like the Bison, the Grizzly Bear, the Rocky Mountain Goat and more. In the end, the mighty Grey Wolf came out the champion with our national animal the Beaver running a close second.

Kombucha may be relatively new to the Calgary scene, but the ladies behind Wild Tea Kombucha are trusting that the health drink alterative is more than a fad. Emily Baadsvik and Brigette Freel have been working together since 2015 to perfect their Wild Tea Kombucha blends. In just those few short years, the brand can now be found in over 50 locations across Western Canada including big grocers like Sobeys and Save-on-Foods as well as niche and independent retailers and restaurants.

When a restaurant’s beautiful ambiance is paired with delicious food and dishes, it makes for a most wonderful dining experience. Foreign Concept may be the new kid on the block, but they are serving up delightful Asian fusion for Calgarians to explore and enjoy.
In the space formerly occupied by the Vicious Circle cocktail bar, Foreign Concept owner and chef Duncan Ly is finding his groove with his first solo dining enterprise. The restaurant space itself is a modern take on an View this Post

Calgary has some amazing views of the rivers, the mountains, the cityscape and more. Finding those sights and scenery in the city is as simple as getting as high as you possibly can. In this case, the sub-penthouse floor in Calgary’s tallest residential building, the Guardian Towers.
Way up on the 39th floor you will find amazing downtown views from all angles ‚Äď from the Saddledome to the Calgary Tower all the way out to the Rocky Mountains. For a cool $2.4 million, you too can enjoy this spectacular View this Post

First came the freshly squeezed lemonade to quench Calgarians’ thirst. Then came the mini donut popsicle that was all the rage at Stampede. Now the local team behind the Family Squeezed and Family Freezed brands is ready with another delectable dessert craze: edible cookie dough. The addition of Cookie Dough YYC to Calgary’s sweets scene is both unique and welcome.
Owner and ‚Äúhead squeeze‚ÄĚ Jennifer Andrews tells me that the idea for edible cookie dough came from her childhood. ‚ÄúWho doesn’t love cookie dough? It was the next obvious View this Post

Do you like music? Do you like to play? Do you like to have a funky good time? Then Studio Bell’s After Hours sessions are for you. The music museum is usually only open during the day, but they are turning down the lights and turning up the beats for special adults night only events. The National Music Centre hosted the first-such After Hours event at Studio Bell this past March for the grown-ups to come out to play. I’ve always loved the idea of sipping on wine View this Post

Repurposing items is often forgotten about when it’s so easy to go out and buy everything new these days. But I love the feeling of accomplishment and ingenuity when I can figure out way to repurpose and upcycle. It’s a great way to reuse items, make them beautiful again, and give them a better purpose in life. So with all the gadgets I have acquired over the years (iPhones, iPads etc.), it also means that I have a lot of boxes lying around collecting dust. Not exactly an effective View this Post
