Irene Seto

Hi guys! My name is Irene Seto and I am the writer behind Mint & Heritage. I’m a born-and-raised Calgarian so that makes me a bit of a unicorn right?! I’m also left-handed, a Taurus sign and an Ox on the Chinese Zodiac so I feel like my bull-headedness is beyond EXTRA, and a lover of all the cute bunnies that populate Calgary city parks. #LetsLeadLadies

This has got to be ✨one of my favorite @telus_sp This has got to be ✨one of my favorite @telus_spark exhibits ever 😍The Quantum Sandbox is the latest digital immersion gallery at Spark. It looks at the five core principles of quantum physics - which I know nothing about lol . The result is seeing science come to life in such vivid colors energy and sound. What I really love are the Indigenous ways of knowing that are incorporated throughout the storytelling and the exhibit. The show takes about 25 minutes if you can catch it from beginning to end. I’ve been to the Quantum Sandbox a few times already and experience something new each visit. ART TIME! “Come check it out” is the perfect n ART TIME! “Come check it out” is the perfect name for an art exhibit that ✨excites and reimagines 🌈 a lot of what we think about the natural and manufactured worlds. The show comes from Italian artist Paola Pivi and is her first solo show in Canada. You’ll see polar bears, shoe pairs and other whimsical sculptures. The show runs until March 2 at @contemporarycalgary so you still have plenty of time to check it out (see what I did there? 😆) And the gallery will have free admission on February 6th for First Thursdays too ✌🏼. —————— ✨Let me be your guide to all things unique to Calgary! They also make a delicious Canadian lobster 🦞 roll to go too. It’s a bit pricy at $26 but it’s filled with 1/4 pound of lobster heated up in a spiced butter marinade. I was literally drooling while I watched them put it together. To add some local touches, the dish is made with ingredients from North Sea’s neighbors inside the market - spices from The Spice Merchant and a fresh baked toasted hot dog bun from Bread Box Bakery. VR 🎮is where it’s at! @cfchinookcentre is hos VR 🎮is where it’s at! @cfchinookcentre is hosting Horizon of Khufu all month long in the old Nordstrom space. Calgary is only the second Canadian city to host this experience so we’re among the lucky few who get to try it out. It might look like a bunch of people just walking around, but the VR is pretty cool - you get immersed right into ancient Egypt and get to take an adventure that feels pretty real. The 45 minute session goes by so fast as you make your way through the Pyramids of Giza.
