Take a field trip to Granary Road

Welcome to Granary Road.

Calgary is home to some great family attractions from Heritage Park to the Calgary Zoo to Calaway Park. Now there’s another location to add to the list with Granary Road! This new attraction is offering a new way to do educational programming with a ton of retail and restaurant offerings as well. Granary Road is broken into two main features: the Active Learning Park and the Public Market.

The Localist: Lavish Society Co. roses

A post shared by LVSH SOCIETY CO. ( on

I love getting flowers every now and again. They brighten up the room and make you feel special. If you’re lucky, the blooms may last a week or two but all bouquets eventually will die off. That’s why I’m so stoked to discover Lavish Society Co. roses.

The Calgary company creates beautiful live rose displays that last for a whole year! Say what? That’s so cool. The arrangements come in singles, a small square box of four and a large box of 16.

A look inside Liz & Lottie

Welcome to Liz & Lottie.

There is LOTS to love about Liz & Lottie. The East Village shop has only been around since July 2016 but is quickly building a reputation as the go-to place for high style goods at unexpectedly reasonable prices. The store features a beautiful and cheeky collection of housewares, home décor, paper goods, jewelry and so much more. Everything from “gangsta napper” baby onesies to “good in bed” pillows can be found at the store. If it’s sassy and classy, you bet you can find it at Liz & Lottie.

Home décor and more at Branch Market & Studio

Branch Market home decor

Inside the beautiful Branch Market & Studio.

I have a love for all things pretty, so I fell hard when I discovered Branch Market & Studio. Imagine a shop filled with handcrafted goods, upcycled furniture, and knick knacks of all colors and styles that you’ll immediately want to take home. Branch Market is a curated collection of all things lovely, charming and whimsical from paintings of kitties and bunnies to pre-loved rocking chairs to funny coffee mugs and comfy pillows.

Branch Market is the brainchild of owner and artist Rebecca Desaulniers. She opened the shop in 2015 with a View this Post

Christmas in Inglewood: Shop Local Gift Guide

Christmas is in the air and is waiting for you around the corner in Inglewood! Tons of my most favourite Calgary shops are located in and around 9th Avenue S.E. There are over 80 locally-owned shops in the area (holy moly!) which means tons of Christmas gifts and finds to be had for all your family and friends. The neighborhood is making it even easier to shop this holiday season with free hot chocolate, extended shop hours and free parking on Saturdays leading up to the holiday. I like to make a day of it when I stop by Inglewood: View this Post

5 items to try at Neal’s Yard Remedies

A photo posted by Irene Seto (@heyseto) on

The snow has started falling in Calgary and we are just a handful of weeks away from Christmas! Where has the time gone?!? I’m feeling the pressure to get myself organized for my holiday shopping.

One place that I’ve been checking out lately is Neal’s Yard Remedies. It’s an English brand that focuses on organic natural health and beauty products. We’re super lucky here in #yyc as we are the only Canadian location to have access to Neal’s products right now. As I’ve been View this Post

Celebrating Alberta’s heritage at Cabela’s Calgary

There are some big changes coming to Deerfoot Mall starting with the introduction of Cabela’s, an outfitter known for its fishing and hunting expertise. The 70,000-square-foot retail space houses everything from sleeping bags to fishing rods to industrial grade meat grinders. If it has anything to do with the outdoors, Cabela’s will have you covered. The store is a first for Calgarians, who will be treated to an outdoor-like shopping experience with mountain replicas, wildlife displays, an indoor archery range and my personal favourite, the Fudge Shop.

Finding casual and chic at ECCO Shoes

Danish retailer ECCO Shoes has been around since the 1970’s but the Scandinavian brand has only set up standalone stores in Canada since the late ‘90s. With a growing push in Western Canada, ECCO is looking to boost its presence with Calgarians with their new showcase location in Chinook Centre. My boyfriend has been a big fan of their men’s shoes for along time so I decided to take some time to explore what the women’s collections had to offer.

Bex Vintage will be bringing their old-school furnishings to Willow Park Village this fall.

Living in southwest Calgary, one of my go-to places for shopping is Willow Park Village. This outdoor shopping plaza is home to some of my favourite local shops – you can pretty much get anything and everything in one go. This includes baked goods at Crave Cupcakes, dinner at Broken Plate, gourmet eats from Springbank Cheese, a relaxing massage from Skoah, insurance and tickets at AMA, flowers from Blooms and Butterflies, and a few bottles of vino from Willow Park Wines and Spirits (one View this Post

Fresh Laundry brings loads of clean goodness to Inglewood

Visiting the new Fresh Laundry shop in Inglewood, Calgary.

Visiting the new Fresh Laundry shop in Inglewood, Calgary.

The first thing you will notice when you step inside Fresh Laundry is how amazing it smells. From the vibrant green moss on the wall to the soaps and linens on the shelves, this store just smells damn good. And as it should be since this new storefront is all about scents, lotions, soaps and more. Fresh Laundry comes from the brilliant sibling team of Lisa and Ian Davies. The duo (along with a third partner) are already well known for their sister store, The Uncommons, and have played a View this Post
