Calgary breweries and distilleries making hand sanitizer

These are some truly difficult times we are facing.  But some local Calgary breweries and distilleries are pivoting their business models to flex their expertise and help out during the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of making alcohol for drinking, these Calgary businesses are making alcohol-based hand sanitizer, one of the most-sought after COVID-19 items.

Remember, washing your hands with soap and not touching your face are still necessary to follow. But having some hand sanitizer on hand for grocery store runs and other outings will surely give some peace of mind too. Supporting local businesses and local causes is more important than ever as we work to flatten the curve. Here’s where you can pick up some Calgary craft hand sanitizer:

Annex Ales Hand Sanitizer

Annex Ales partnered up with Calgary businesses Raft Beer Labs, Confluence Distilling and others to create their “canitizer” hand sanitizer. It looks like a beer can so be careful to not mistake it for one of your other brews.

The 473 ml can needs to emptied into a resealable glass jar or plastic bottle. If you have a spray nozzle on it, you can easily turn it into a convenient hand sanitizer spray bottle to use as needed.

The Annex Ales hand sanitizer is not available at the brewery but can be found at Calgary Coop, Confluence Distillery and Community Natural Foods. See a full list of retailers here.

Burwood Distillery Hand Sanitizer

Burwood Distillery has been brewing up big batches of their hand cleanser for both businesses and individuals to purchase. They are offering sizes from 16 oz bottles to 4 litre jugs  with limited quantities per purchase (let’s not hoard the cleaning materials folks!)

The Burwood Distillery hand sanitizer is available for pickup at their NE distillery location. Hours and dates are limited with priorities being given to small businesses that need the supplies to keep doing work. Make sure to check their latest info online at their website and on Instagram to see availability.

Skunkworks Distillery Hand Sanitizer

This Barley Belt distillery is also helping out with the shortage of hand cleanser. You can stop by their store to pick up a small personal amount of cleaning product for free! You will need to bring your own container so make sure it is clean and dry with a proper lid to take it home.

Better yet, Skunkworks Distillery is offering free hand sanitizer with every online purchase of their premium engineered moonshine. That’ll check off two items on your quarantine checklist in one go.

Minhas Brewery Hand Sanitizer

The folks at the Calgary plant of Minhas Brewery and Distillery have been busy at work making 1 million bottles of the much needed hand sanitizer. Isn’t that amazing?

The Minhas hand sanitizer will be going on sale this coming Monday, April 13 at their N.E. Calgary location. Pricing will range from $7.95 for a 375ml bottle to $14.95 for a 750ml bottle. Limits will apply (again, let’s not hoard!). You will also be able to find their product at retailers around town like Safeway (if you can find it).

Revival Brewcade Hand Sanitizer

The trio of Bridgeland Distillery, Two House Brewing and Revival Brewcade came together to create their own germ busting solution. This cleaning product comes in at a mighty 72% alcohol content that is sure to keep the germs away.

The Revival Brewcade hand sanitizer comes in three sizes:

• 354 ml personal spray bottle – $9
• 500 ml refill
• 946 ml refill

Purchases are limited to one per customer and is selling quickly. Please be patient as more bottles will be made available on the Revival Brewcade website regularly. Pickup and delivery options available.

For a limited time, every bottle sold means a bottle will also be donated to Helping Alberta, a non-profit securing necessary personal protective equipment for front-line workers. That’s a cause we can all get behind.

Bridgeland Distillery Hand Sanitizer

As listed above, Bridgeland Distillery partnered up with Revival Brewcade and Two House Brewing to create hand sanitizer.

Bridgeland Distillery’s hand sanitizer is available to order online. Delivery in Calgary is included if you order one of their spirits, but if you want only the hand sanitizer, you’ll have to stop by the store to pick it up.

Two Rivers Distillery Hand Sanitizer

Two Rivers Distillery is bottling up 750ml bottles of hand sanitizer for public sale – now that’s a lot of clean hands! Stop by their tasting to pick some up or email them at info@tworiversdistillery.com to place an order. Two bottle limit in place.

Romero Distilling Hand Sanitizer

Romero Distilling has some great deals on hand sanitizer – their bottles are travel-size friendly and they allow a larger quantity limit of 10 if you’re needing to pass supplies around to family and friends. Their 120 ml bottles are $5 each or buy 4 get 1 free.

Small Businesses only. We have our cases of 48 x 120ml bottles on sale for $190.48 plus tax ($3.97/bottle). This sale will run from 10am-5pm or until supplies run out. There will be a limit of 2 cases per business.
