Celebrating Alberta’s heritage at Cabela’s Calgary

Cabela's

There are some big changes coming to Deerfoot Mall starting with the introduction of Cabela’s, an outfitter known for its fishing and hunting expertise. The 70,000-square-foot retail space houses everything from sleeping bags to fishing rods to industrial grade meat grinders. If it has anything to do with the outdoors, Cabela’s will have you covered. The store is a first for Calgarians, who will be treated to an outdoor-like shopping experience with mountain replicas, wildlife displays, an indoor archery range and my personal favourite, the Fudge Shop.

The design of the new Calgary location features tons of inspiration from the Alberta outdoors and pays homage to our Western heritage with images direct from the Glenbow Museum archives. The beautiful historical images are juxtaposed against modern photography and show a wonderful contrast of Albertans enjoying Mother Nature throughout the ages. Below is just a snapshot at some of the art that has been added to Cabela’s.

Be sure to stop by the new location to see these beautiful art pieces in person. Cabela’s will be celebrating their grand opening on Thursday, October 15th. I’m also giving a $25 gift card to one lucky reader – enter today!
