Donna Mac brings new neighborhood cuisine to the Beltline

Most of us have memories of going over to grandma’s house for dinner. It would have been an evening full of warmth, comfort, fresh ingredients and communal dishes between family and friends. The owners of the newly-opened Donna Mac look to resurrect what grandma used to do with their new neighborhood cuisine in the Beltline.

Inspired by what grows regionally and seasonally, Donna Mac rotates items regularly using as much of each whole ingredient as possible. This can be seen in how the items are listed on the menu with the focus on the main foodstuff like carrots, endive, duck View this Post

Two Penny in Victoria Park

Welcome to Two Penny in Victoria Park.

I find that downtown Calgary is home to so many restaurants of all types of cuisines from sushi to pizza to tacos and more. For some reason, Chinese food remains primarily entrenched within Chinatown while the rest of the downtown goes without. Two Penny in Victoria Parks hopes to change all that by offering a more contemporary Asian cuisine experience.

Inside you’ll find a beautiful decorated space (completed by the amazing Sarah Ward Interiors team) filled with comfortable seating and subtle Chinese décor. Jade green tones take over the room which is View this Post

12 creative and unusual sushi combos at Goro + Gun

Goro + Gun is the perfect place to go if you are a sushi lover like me. When that craving hits, I need a few different kinds of sushi rolls and nigiri. I always want to fill up on a spicy tuna roll, some octopus takoyaki, throw in some salmon sashimi and maybe a specialty dish or two like some unagi or a sushi cone. But never have I ever been so sushi spoiled than at Goro + Gun’s Omakase sushi experience.

Omakase is a dining experience where the chef chooses your dishes for you. And you’re in good View this Post

Making chocolates at Bernard Callebaut

A day of chocolate fun at Chocolaterie Bernard Callebaut by Cococo.

What do you do if you have a love for chocolate and getting crafty? Make a bunch of the sweet treats at Chocolaterie Bernard Callebaut of course! For #LoveYYC day, Tourism Calgary sent my sister, niece and I to the Cococo Chocolatiers-owned shop for a day of chocolate making fun.

The premier chocolaterie has been a staple in Calgary’s food scene for many years and I was so excited to go ‘behind-the-curtain’ to see how the chocolate process works. We were put right to work on a View this Post

NOtaBLE has you covered from brunch to lunch to Gourmet 2 Go

Enjoying the new fall menus at NOtaBLE Calgary.

I love going to restaurants that like to shake things up every now and again. While there is comfort in picking the same foods you already know and enjoy, I appreciate trying new flavours, dishes and seasonal ingredients when I’m eating out. Just in time for fall, NOtaBLE has put together refreshed menu items for brunch, lunch and dinner. The northwest restaurant has built up a reputation over the years as a place for quality eats and I always have a great (and filling!) time at NOtaBLE. I went for a View this Post
